G.I Joe the new hit movie for teenagers all over. It is not just a movie it has a message behind it. The army is using this movie to help recruit men to go to war. As we discussed in class that your typical audience that would be watching this movie would be about 14 years of age and they would be boys. The military is targeting this audience so that they can get them when they are young and have them enlist when they turn 18 years-old. A fourteen year-old will watch G.I. Joe and think wow it must be fun to be in the military fire guns and do whatever you want. This movie also shows as we discussed in class that there are no consequences for your actions, and if you are in the military you can go around and blow things up. Any early teen would love the fact that there are no consequences for your actions. The way this trailer shows all the violence makes it seem exciting, they use this tool to embed in young teens minds that the military and going to war is exciting.

Young boys love G.I. Joe and want to be like him. Through all the media sources whether it is a doll, movie, or billboard they want to teach young boys at an early age that it is cool and fun to go to war. Especially now that we are in wartime they found the best time to come out with this movie. It is amazing how the media can come out with a doll or something and make young kids want to grow up and be just like that doll. For example, if you ask young girls who would they like to be like when they grow older a lot of them will say I want to be like Barbie. The media controls the whole world and even young ones minds. Not only do they control everything that is around you, but in the same time they use it to make lots of money. All around I found this movie more as a message to young boys than just a simple movie. Lots of movies created by the media effect others ways of thinking it is just one of the many techniques they use to send messages.

Lots of fast food out there can give you a heart attack. Subway is definitely the place to go if you want something healthy and fast. In this commercial you see the man ordering Blubber, but in real life all that fat behind a Whopper or a BigMac is really Blubber. The number one killing disease in America is heart disease, and heart disease comes from not eating right and eating lots of junk. Not only did I find this commercial interesting but I found it true. When the lady in the commerical is ordering Donkey Butt it is a little exaggerating, but it shows that some of the chicken sandwiches that you order outside is not really 100% chicken. Lots of the meats that you get from fast food chains are not 100% beef. I would say it is about 50% beef and 50% mixture of junk. For example, the Jack In The Box tacos are completely non beef they are soybeef. Subway gives you good meats, healthy sandwiches, and barley any fats for a cheap price. If you are going to eat any fast food it should be subway, or else you might be eating Blubber or Donkey Butt.

This commercial does a great job convincing you that Subway is the way to go. After watching this commercial I thought about going  out and getting me a fresh Subway sandwich. The use very nice techniques to make you finish watching the commercial. They use humor which is a great way, and they made the message nice and short. People watch this commercial for 30 seconds they get the message, and there next fast food place that they are going to eat at is Subway. A great way they used to wrap up this commercial was the fact that they said Subway is recommended by the American Heart Association.  All around this commercial was very effective and very true. It got straight to the point and makes me not want to touch any other fast food other than Subway.

lots of stories about 7 year-olds taking cars and going on a joyride. This one took a car just because it was fun. The reason this seven year-old boy took this vehicle because he plays to much video games, and video games can have a huge influence on young kids minds. Video games is like a drug to young boys, it is like their tobacco. I bet right before this kid took the car he played a racing game, and he thought it would be fun to race in real life. This young 7 year-old admits in the video that he plays video games. Kids want to be like the character they control on the television. This kid says “It is fun to do bad things,” and most of the “cool” games like Grand Theft Auto and True Crimes influences doing bad actions. lots of problems that come from young kids is a result from to much video games or bad television. Children have curious minds and want to try anything they see. If a 7 year-old boy is playing a game that involves stealing a car and racing through the streets, he will steal a car and race through the streets.

Yet the media advertises games on TV commercials all the time. The media doesn’t care if the product that they are going to sell you may hurt you, they just want money. Who cares if videogames can destroy young kids minds and tobacco can kill you, I just want to make money. This is the mindset of the media. New video games are constantly coming out each one is worse and worse, because those are the games that sell. Their audience are young boys and young boys love games involvingviolence. Companies that sell video games make lots of money of children’s parents because children beg their parents for new video games when they come out. A commercial about a new game would probably come on TV at 3:3o pm when children are out of school and watching TV. It is amazing how the media knows the perfect time to air a commercial to sell a product. Not only does the media control the world, but it controls peoples minds.

It is not basketball or football it is poker. Is poker a sport? Poker is now becoming a sport. Holdem’s popularity around the globe is very high. The main poker game in any casino is Texas Holdem, people just love it. The fact that it comes on ESPN proves that it is becoming a sport. It may not involve any movement of some sort, but in today point of view that is not necessary. lots of people consider chess a sport. When it gets late like at one or two in the morning Texas Holdem is viewed on the air. This could be a stunt to rebuilt the US economy. First they were thinking about lowering the gambling age to 18 years old. Now Holdem is everywhere on TV to get people to gamble. The US Government knows that they can get money from gamblers and use it towards the economy. However,  No Limit Holdem’ has gone from avant-garde–now considered by many people as a mainstream “sport” all over the wold. The popularity of the game has expanded greatly since the mid 90′s. At one point, the game would be considered to be a “gender-gap,” and only considered as a “man’s game.” This concept is no longer prevalent; women (professionals) such as Jennifer Harman, Clonie Gowen, and other from all ages have adapted the great sport of No Limit Holdem’.

The media trys to show the audience that gambling can make you rich, but it is false. Vegas was built out peoples pockets everywhere. The things that are omitted from this message is what happens to the players that loose their money. Also what happens to people who are addicted to gambling. People that would be interested in this video would be a lonely male about the age of 35. This message is definitely being sent to get peoples money, and to get them interested in gambling.

Is a Bowflex machine all you need to get in shape? I wish it was that easy. Bowflex show in their commercials that it is simple to get the perfect body you want. They even say twenty minutes a day three times a week is all you need. There are a lot of things removed from this message. First, they don’t mention that you have to change your diet in order to change your body. Diet is more important than working out. You can workout all you want and burn fat, but you can return the fat to your body by things you eat. Second, they try to fool you by showing workout models that are already in shape. They don’t mention how long it took for these models to get in shape, and how much effort they put in daily to sustain there shape. This Bowflex commerical makes it sound so easy to look like those models. Finally, even if you would to by the Bowflex machine it dosent mean you will know all the workouts and how to workout. For beginners they should have someone training them and showing them the exercises they need for the shape they want.

Bowflex commercials use techniques to make you want to purchase there product. For example, they show you the fit workout models to make you say I want to look like that. They tell you it doesn’t take up space, but in reality it is a pretty big machine. They send messages at you like ”Three times a week twenty minutes a day is all you need, by the time you waste gas and go to the gym you will be already done with your workout.” They make the payments sound extremely low and add a bunch of free stuff.

What I have to tell Bowflex is to get up and face reality. Getting the perfect shape you want is not easy and requires lots of effort. They are out to get peoples money because they know lots of people are not satisfied with the way they look.

Last week I saw a house for sale sign and I thought I check it out. I go there and all I see is a bunch of white people in a room talking about the home. Right away it struck me is houses only for Whites, because there the only ones that can afford it. Wherever I go and see nice houses, I see a white male outside barbecuing in the balcony. Will a person from a minority group ever afford a house. Houses are so expensive that minorities cannot afford it. If you ever see a minority that is living in a very expensive house, lots of stereotypes come up. For example, stereotypes of a Black male living in a expensive house would be that he inherited it, or he is a NBA player. Nice expensive houses shouldn’t only be for Whites but for others also. The amount of racism that is still left in the US makes it impossible for minorities to break loose from the chains of poverty. If they try to break loose and become wealthy society gives them a hard time. The amount of stereotypes that minorities receive everyday makes them not want to become wealthy.

As we discussed in class racism still exists in the US. It probably doesn’t exist as much as in the old days, but it still exists. People will always hate outsiders because people are very narrow minded. The only thing that sign was missing was Whites only, and it would have had it if we were living in the 40′s. I wonder if racism in the future will be completely abolished, and maybe we can see other groups of people living in those expensive houses on the beach. Maybe that room full of rich white people will be a room full of diversity of colors.

Disney throughout its years of inspiring young ones with its fairytales, turns out to be a prejudice company. As we look at famous fairy tales like Cinderella and Snow White there is something fishy going on. Well Cinderella is white and so is Snow White. Disney 100 years later is trying to show that they are not racist anymore or even at all. They come out with this new movie called The Princess and the Frog where the main character is black. What message is Disney trying to send us now? They are trying to tell us Disney land is not a place only for rich white families. They are saying it is for everyone even minorities. In class last week my teacher discussed his experience at Disney land, and he said wherever he looked there were white people around him. It could be because the tickets are unbelievably expensive or because our fairytale heroes are all white. It is to late for Disney to make a statement by coming out with this movie. Little girls all over the globe want to grow up and be like Cinderella.

Disney is not only racist but they are prejudice against females. If you look closely at Cinderella the ideal princess you see that she was designed to send a message to young girls. This message is that you have to be like Cinderella which is to be able to clean, cook, and look beautiful. Disney decided how to send the message to the young ones through their fairytales. The Prince Charming has to be strong and handsome. To find your Prince Charming you have to be like Cinderella, and be able to cook, clean, and look beautiful.

This movie could be a money stunt so they can get more Blacks to show up to Disney land. More Blacks will probably go to Disney land now because of this new princess. It is to late for Disney to make this move now.

According to this Carls Jr commercial only guys eat meat. This commerical is prejudice to women because women eat meat to0. Meat is not made for only guys to eat. Carls Jr’s commericals always imply that only guys can eat there big fat burgers. They are also saying that all guys eat more than women. This is not true I have seen some women that can eat more than guys.

Carls Jr is trying to attract males to the restaurant. A lot of times after I see a Carls Jr commercial I start to crave a nice big burger. There commericals make all there burgers look like a monster. Almost all the fast food restaurants make all there sandwiches look extremely delicious. They blow it up on TV and when you go to the actual restaurant it is not even half the size. If your not a big fan of burgers you might thing any Carls Jr commerical is weird. If you are a fan of burgers after watching this message you will probably go get yourself a Carls Jr burger.

Anyway women like to eat meat just as men do. Carls Jr is saying in there messages if your not a male and don’t like burgers this place is not for you. Carls Jr should change their commerical up to men and women so they can get more customers, and make more money.

A typical stereotype that is visible today is that men like to drink beer, and women like to drink wine instead. Men drink beer all the time while they watch sports on television. Beer has grown to be a masculine drink. Almost all the commericals about beer on TV like Budlight or Budweiser has a male as the main character. Men drink beer next to a burger while women drink Diet Coke instead. The end of this commerical clearly shows the stereotype that men drink beer and women prefer wine. When the guy ordered white wine instead of Beer his friend automatically knew there was something wrong. Some of the creative ways used to attract my attention was the sense of humor. Also this commerical keeps you guessing. It makes you want to know what is going to happen next after every “dude” said. I understood this message as you need to have a beer to have a good day, or at least a day that makes sense. A man likes a good beer to complete his day. This message is definitely sent to say if you don’t want to have an awkward day you need to drink a Budlight.

In class earlier today we discussed that men are the ones always on the grill barbecuing. They are the ones that love to eat barbecue hotdogs and burgers, and what goes better with that than a beer. Beer and barbecue is a man thing especially if there is a big game. Beer is made for men because it is cheap and satisfying.

This message definitely portrays that Diet Coke is used for women as a tool to slim down. The commercial shows that women that drink Diet Coke will be attractive, and will have all the men under their feet. Techniques used to attract my attention in this commercial were all the sound effects, the bubbles flying everywhere, and the pretty girl in the swimsuit. A male would understand this message as women that drink Diet Coke are more attractive that women who dont. A women would understand this message as Diet Coke being more important than make-up. I understand this message as women that drink Diet Coke have a chance of being more hotter than other women. Through this commerical the lifestyle of being fit is represented. You might see an ad of Diet Coke in a gym magazine. Mainly this message is being sent to women to tell them that you can lose weight by drinking delicious Diet Coke.

My opinion Diet Coke is the perfect drink for women because they are always trying to attract men. Men seem not to care about their appearance as much as women do. There is no better way for women to attract men than by losing weight and looking fit. The Diet Coke product made lots of money of women. Women want to look like the girl from this commerical, and have all the men chasing her. Diet Coke is definitely a product made special for women to lose weight and attract men. The stereotype that Diet Coke is for women is correct. I rarely see men drinking Diet Coke they are always drinking regular Coke. The can by itself is made to have a feminine look. The can is light silver with a touch of red.
